Building a school

Brick by brick, we are building a place where the children we care for can learn close to home.

Many of the children we care for walk a long way to school, and some cannot go at all because their families cannot afford it. We believe every child deserves a safe place to learn, a good meal in the middle of the day and teachers who know them by name. So we have started building a school.

Where the work began

The first step was preparing the land among the banana trees and marking out where the classrooms will stand.

Then the materials began to arrive: piles of red bricks, and sand for the mortar and the floors.

What comes next

There is still a long way to go: walls, a roof, doors, windows, desks and books. We will share photos here as each stage is finished, so you can see exactly where your gift goes.

Alongside the school, we are raising funds for a borehole, so the children and the families around the school will have clean, safe water every day.

If you would like to help us lay the next row of bricks, you can give online, or contact us if your church or group would like to fund part of the building.
